Car Matters
After the accident, dad say I should change the car ownership to my name. Why didn't I change the ownership once I got the car 2 years ago? Because the insurance policy has NCB of 55%, and if I change ownership I won't be able to enjoy the NCB. The insurance claim after the accident was troublesome as it involved aunty Joyce (the previous owner). We got charged for assessment as the driver was different from the policy owner. So since the insurance has no more NCB, better if I transfer the ownership.
So finally I went to Puspakom to get my car examined for ownership transfer purpose. The whole process took me about an hour. For the benefit of others, this is the procedures:
- I went to the Puspakom branch in Glenmarie about 8am. (Remember to bring your car registration card)
- I reached there around 8.10am, the security asked me to queue my car at the back of the building. Although Puspakom opens only at 8am, there were already 2 cars in the line. Not sure about other branch, but the Glenmarie branch has only 2 inspection counters.
- Take a number from the security siting at the back, and proceed to the clerk to get the form for ownership transfer. (Different branch provide different types of inspections. The Glenmarie branch only provide Ownership Transfer, Financing, Auction..)
- Pass the car registration card to the clerk and she'll fill in the form. Have to pay RM30 bucks.
- Pass the car key to the inspection officer. The clerk passed me a form and asked me to give it to the officer. Then I can wait at the waiting area.
- The inspection only lasted for like 20 minutes. They only checked the engine and chassis serial number, and the tint.
- After the inspection, the officer will drive the car out from the inspection counter and I have to repark the car somewhere outside coz have to wait for the report.
- I waited for another 30 minutes for the report. Once the report is done, they will call the car plate number and the report can be collected from the office.
- Check if all the details are accurate. Then you are done. :)
The Puspakom report only valid for 1 month. Have to go to JPJ to do the name transfer before it expires. Both seller and buyer need to sign the documents, so if you are the buyer, make sure the previous owner has their part of the documents done before you go to JPJ. Before that have to get wang pos of RM100 from post office. I haven't got mine done. I'll be heading to JPJ tomorrow.
My car has just went thru a major fix of its life. Changed tyres, aircond belt, timing belt, engine belt, oil leakage, brake fluid leakage, dented rim due to last accident, and dunno what else. (Friend said it's common for lady driver =.=) Now my car can fly dy, but the bill cost me 1.6k :(
